SmartCode DownloadsThe SmartCode is available for free download in Adobe InDesign (editable files and support documents) and Adobe Acrobat at Center for Applied Transect Studies (CATS). The SmartCode is shareware, and free to use without licensing fees. Local calibration is required, to reflect the character and legal requirements of each town, city or county. SmartCode & Manual is available now from New Urban News Publications, (607) 275-3087. The 250 page manual features SmartCode v9.0 text, in its entirety, on the right side of each spread, matched with incisive annotation on each facing page. The code is preceded by a commentary on form-based codes, sprawl and its alternatives, the Transect, and the SmartCode elements, structure, implementation responsibility, calibration and legal issues. The appendices include sample regulating plans, sample enabling legislation, an ordinance, case studies and resources. A must-have for efficient local calibration.
